East End came from Carole's dream - a farm to keep her own horse on. From there she met like minded people MAD!! they wanted to share the enjoyment that they were lucky enough to have.
Carole worked at local mentally handicapped home so she used to bring the children down for pony rides, then they did the odd charity event and by that time there were a large amount of willing helpers so they started to call themselves the EastEnders (way before the one on TV!)
As time went by it became a way of life. From pony rides to shows, to barn dances and garden parties, they helped all types of charities. If they could do it then they would and as the years went by their children started to get involved.
Then three years ago Carole's son asked if he could have his wedding blessing at East End, why not ? We had done most things before then. So we had a celebration and what a celebration it was, you name it we had it, bands and DJs, fairground rides, fire eaters, clowns (not just the resident ones!). It was just great and even Mars visited us that year. Bless Gary and Lisa all they asked for instead of presents was money for charity.
Everyone had such a great time that why not have another (party that is, not wedding) so here we are into our 3rd year.
So if its even half as good as other years you will have a ball. The great thing now is all the young EastEnders run it with all their enthusiasm and energy. So come and visit this beautiful part of our world, and like me be amazed at how those EastEnders can raise some money.
