The Art Trail
Don't be fooled by the name, The Art Trail. This isn't a high brow exhibition or event. We just borrowed the name from a similar thing they do at the Big Chill. However the concept goes back further than that to those blurry nights and days of the nineties. A time when we used to dress the parties we gave to add a visual dimension to the music. It could be said, that at this time, given the right level of intoxication, even the simplest of things could distract and stimulate the mind. For example whilst at a beach party in Goa, we noticed that with the right lighting, even some toilet roll in a tree could be very effective.
It was at Gary and Lisa's wedding that we created our first standalone Art Trail. To the untrained eye, in day light, in just looked like bits of string and sparkly, spinny things in trees, and computers and TVs stuck in hedges with wires running everywhere. But at night with the aid of UV and fairy lighting it became magical and enchanting (well maybe if you'd had a few : ).
Each year since then we have tried to extend the art trail to include different ideas and some interactive elements whilst remaining true to our origins. It is still created with pleasure by volunteers, on a low budget using mainly recycled and borrowed materials. During the day it still looks like bits of string and junk stuck in trees and hedges but at night. Well you'll just have to decide that for yourself......
